Highlights and Achievements

2022-2023

  • Department of Zoology released a Newsletter “Zephyr” for the academic year 2021-22 on 18th July 2022.
  • Industrial Academia Interactions – The Department jointly organized a webinar with St.Pious Degree and P.G college in collaboration with “TTC WOW”(Well being out of waste) on topic Solid Waste management Practices by Mr.S.N.Umakanth,Chief Manager, WOW-TTC’S CSR Initiative.
  • Released Academic Calendar – “Zoologique”-for the year 2022-23 on 26th September 2022.
  • The Department organized an educational tour to Chennai from 25th -28th January  coordinated by Dr.D.Divya &Ms.Juvaria Azmath.
  • Department of Zoology signed MoU with Learn to upgrade organization on 24th February 2023, 31 students have registered for internship with learn to upgrade.
  • Divya granted with an Indian patent on a rhodenticide concoction bearing application number 202141060467 . 

Awards

  • Tasneem Jahan, Dr.Divya Deepthimahanthi, Mrs.N.Kavya & Dr.Poonam Dev awarded best research paper on Elucidation of Antibacterial activities and Antioxidant activities of Sesuvium portulacastrum leaf extracts in National conference on Physical and Life science (NCPLS-23) in Virtual mode on 1st April,2023.
  • Divya Deepthimahanthi was awarded with degree of Ph.D. in Zoology from Acharya Nagarjuna University in the year 2022-23.
  • Divya Deepthimahanthi received St.Ann’s Research Award (SARA-2022) award from the management of St.Ann’s College for women, Mehdipatnam.
  • Divya Deepthimahanthi awarded 1st prize for highest collection of dry waste & paper waste under Inter school Recycling championship 2022 an initiative of ITC with GHMC.

2021-2022

  • Inauguration of Virtual Lab- DIZA Digital innovation in zoology @ Ann’s on 23rd March 2022.
  • Digitization of Museum was done for100 vertebrates specimens were digitized as a part of DBT star College Scheme.
  • The Department has launched a Birds club named-AVIANNS Birds club in the year 2021-22.
  • A patent was filed by Mrs. Dr.Divya with an application no. 202141060467 and is in the process of submission of first examination report.

Awards

  • Tasneem Jahan was awarded with (St.Ann’s meritorious teacher award) “SAMTA” award by the management of St. Ann’s college for Women.
  • D.Divya was awarded a gold medal for good quality of publications from Life Sciences for the year 2019-2020

2020-2021

  • The Department is pioneer in establishing a Virtual Lab in the entire State of Telangana.
  • The Museum Annimalia is digitised for Vertebrate specimens.
  • The Department has initiated a start-up program “AQUANNS” –Sale of aquaria in which Aquarium is prepared, marketed and sold by the students themselves.

Awards

  • Tasneem Jahan was awarded with “SARA” award by the management of St. Ann’s college for Women.
  • On the occasion of world youth skills day Mrs. D.Divya received “INDO ASIAN BEST RESEARCHER AWARD 2020-21” from The International Multidisciplinary Researcher Foundation.

2019-2020

  • The Department received a grant of 14,00,000 /- under DBT star College Scheme
  • The department got sanctioned an amount of 5,19,750/-. under Research project from NCERT, New Delhi on the topic“Development of Manual for Identification of Species in Mangrove Regions and It’s Implementation”
  • The Department is pioneer in establishing a Virtual Lab in the entire State of Telangana.

2018-2019

  • Identification of Zooplanktons using  Foldoscope (DBT) – Dr.Tasneem Jahan
  • Demonstration of Preparation of Vermicompost pit and Vermi bed was done for the students.
  • K.Tabassum & Juvaria Azmath presented a paper in international conference (ICRTESM) on “Effects on vermicompost on algal growth “on 5th August 2018.
  • Tasneem Jahan presented a paper in international conference (ICRTESM) on “Diabetes a silent killer “on 5th August 2018.
  • Tasneem Jahan presented a paper in international conference (ICRTESM) on “The study of Anaemia in teenage girls “on 5th August 2018.
  • D.Divya presented a paper in international conference (ICRTESM) on “Qualitative analysis of pure and market ghee samples “on 5th August 2018.
