To nurture the budding statisticians/analysts by laying a strong theoretical foundation with an understanding of the wide applicability of the subject, develop their empirical analysis skills and hence make them ready for further related higher education programs or jobs or business.
Objectives
Statistics is a modern tool of immense versatility with which one can both explore and measure the variability and uncertainty inherent in reality in almost any field. The primary objective of the department of statistics is to take the students from the classroom environ to the “outside”.
- To develop independent thinking and problem-solving skills among the students, by using more student-centric methods as instructional strategies.
- To equip the students to analyze data using the latest statistical software packages.
- To make the students aware of various career opportunities and pursue higher education in the fields related to the subject of ‘Statistics’.
