2023-2024

Participated in 2 Day FDP on Biotechnology: Making India ready for tomorrow “Indigenous Technology for Viksit Bharat” Conducted by GSS, GITAM, Visakhapatnam.
Completed Two-week online National Refresher course organized by MGVLVH Science & Commerce college, Nashik.
Participated in NEP Orientation and Sensitization Programme under MMTTP of UGC organized by UGC- MMTTC , GAD MMTTC.
N. Sushma as a resource person in St. Francis Degree and P.G college Begumpet for Biotechnofrenzy 2.o competition .
D.Kethura as a resource person in Govt. Degree college Begumpet for molecular biology workshop in Department of Biotechnology.

Research at Department

N.Sushma participated in Third International Scientific conference on Environmental research and presented a paper on “ Bioretention of heavy metals from traffic area sediments”
D.Kethura completed Ann’s Research Project and published a paper on “Phytochemical and antimicrobial evaluation of premna mucronata: an indian medicinal plant” in Science, Technology And Development Journal.

Events Organised

Organised a workshop on Plant tissue culture in collaboration with Green vitro Agri biotechnology.
Organised two day Online Workshop on computational Biology to life science students
Organised a Guest Lecture on Gene Editing to life sciences students.
Organised a Career counseling session on Scope of Biotechnology to Students by Alumni.
Outreach activity on “Menstrual Hygeine” was organised in collaboration with Teach for India on 2^nd Dec, 2023, to create an awareness among high school students at Primary and High School, Kulsumpura , Hyderabad.

Outreach activity

As a part of Annofesta, An Intercollegiate Bio Emoji Rangoli competition was conducted by the Department of Biotechnology, on 20^th and 21^st Dec, 2023.
Observed National Science day and exhibited various molecular biology models and natural products, and demonstrated live experiments, to the high school students of St. Ann’s.

Student Participations / Achievements

- Students of IIBBC & IIIBBC students attended Advances in Research and Carrer Opportunities in Life Sciences , an Interactive sessions and hands on workshop at Hyderbad Central University.
- Our II BBC Students Won I Prize in Bioemoji Rangoli Competition conducted as a part of Annofesta .

2022-2023

Organised Outreach activity on ABO blood grouping at Govt school for high school students.
Organised a Two week Online workshop on Bioinformatics Tools and Software’s in association with makeintern and E cell IIT Kharagpur for Second year BBC, GCZ & GCM students from 8^th– 20^th Aug, 2022. Beneficiaries- 33 students.
Initiated Consultancy with working MoU- Atlantis Phytotech Plant Tissue Culture Lab.
Organised a scientific talk on “world of antigens: their applications in biomedical research and therapeutics” in collaboration with Patna Women’s College,Patna on 14^th Dec, 2022
N.Sushma – As a judge for Intercollegiate competitions Biotechnofrenzy 2.o in St.Francis College for women, Begumpet.

2021-2022

The department organized career talk by illustrious alumni – Dr. Winnie Thomas, for outgoing students to achieve their goals.
Scientifically important days were identified and created awareness among students by conducting quiz and posters.
Interdepartmental competitions were conducted to develop the skills of the students on theme “Molecular Replica from idea to prototype” .
Department encouraged the students of IIIBBC to prepare eco friendly pots to conserve environment on theme “ BIOBLOOMS ”.
Maintainance of “ Biogas plant ”.
N.Sushma achieved Best women Academician award (NAARI SHAKTHI) on the eve of International women’s day conducted by SCIENG Publications.

2020-2021

N.Sushma Head department of Biotechnology is a sub editor for Annquest jounal of St.Ann’s college.
N.Sushma has been a resource person for Bioinformatics.
N.Sushma is been an external practical examiner in K.V.Ranga Reddy college for III yr Biotechnology students.
The faculty update themselves by taking up new training programs and FDP programs.
The faculty members are active in research every year by publishing papers in UGC recognized journals.
The advanced learners will be encouraged to carry out research project/internships & workshops.
Every year the department organizes career talks by renowned guest speakers for choosing the career paths for outgoing students.
Scientifically important days were identified and competitions like video making and quizzical activities are conducted in the pandemic times.
A National level Webinar was conducted on “Recent trends in biotechnology research” was organized by the department in collaboration with Amity university. There was a huge number of participants across INDIA about 100 attended the webinar.
The students are actively involved in research projects every year under the guidance of faculty and get trained in writing reviews for publishing the same.
Students were encouraged to learn new courses for skill enhancement using online modes of teaching to reach heights.

2019-2020

Participated A two day National Seminar on “Current status and future prospects of biotechnology on 15 & 16 Nov 2019 at Nizam College,O.U,Hyderabad
Conducted workshop on Bioinformatics and applications
Visited CCMB, Masqati Dairy Milk & Pochampally to create awareness among students
Organized an Intercollegiate, Annofesta competition on Bio Stickers.
Conducted Career Counselling session for IIIBBC students on Career options in the field of Biotechnology
The Department carries out maintenance of the Biogas plant in the college garden for production of biogas.

2018- 2019

Organized a workshop on PCR and its applications with IACR, Hyderabad.
Faculty have undergone a one week FDP programme conducted by UGC-HRDC Academic staff college, Osmania University.
10 students of I BBC have completed Internship with Hyderabad Science Society, Hyderabad.
Field visit to Vasavi Hospitals on stem cell research, Lakdikapool, Hyderabad.
Completed an outreach activity on Plastic degradation to G.pulla reddy High school, Mehdipatnam, Hyderabad.
Completed two in house projects for III and II BBC students to enhance their research skills.
Faculty published 2 papers and presented 1 paper .
Faculty as Resource person- Ms.R.Rupadevi delivered a Guest Lecture on Bigdata and its applications for Computer Science students (within college).
