Objectives

The Department aims at:

  • Making the students comprehend the concepts of Nutrition and gain a command over the subject to apply in day-to-day life.
  • To pursue Nutrition oriented courses as a career option.
  • To ensure employability of the students through skill orientation.

Best Practices

 

  • Environmental consciousness-To support the contribution towards environmental consciousness, started with the concept of composting and biogas by utilizing the total kitchen waste generated during the practical’s classes of U.G, P.G and P.G. Diploma
  • Maintaining department’s running report-To document the information of various activities and action by the faculty members and students in department’s running report
  • Healthy Recipe Counter as Part of Nutripreneurship Programme-The Department of Nutrition Initiated a Healthy Recipe Counter (HRC) in the college from September 2022 onwards. This is conducted every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00-12:30 in the Quadrangle. The aim is to involve the students in Planning, promotions, preparation, packaging, costing, sale and distribution of the product. Till date 45 HRC Recipe counters were set up and sales were carried out. 
  • Student Mentoring and Academic counseling-The students are encouraged to approach and discuss their academic and personal problems with their subject teachers/ mentors. Every student from first year onwards is mentored by the subject teacher on a one-to-one basis.
  • Preparing students for research- The department prepares the students to write review articles of any topic of their choice through a thorough literature review and also encouraged to publish their work. This gives them an insight of the research methodology and how a publication should be done.
  • Parent’s teacher’s meet-This Academic year the Department felt the need to involve the parents of the students who started their academic Journey in Nutrition Department St.Ann’s College, as this was the year students were returning to the regular mode of studies after the pandemic.
