  • Genetics Department was approved as one of the participants under DBT Star college scheme funding, Govt .of 2020-23
  • Organized Two days Lecture Series Workshop “Molecular Recognition in Physiological Processes” Indian Academy of Sciences under the Science Academies’ Education Programs-2022
  • .Venugopal Rao,Head, Dept of Genetics was awarded  SARA (St.Ann’s  Research Award )for recognition of  his research contributions 2016
  • Rao was nominated as Ethics Committee member, DDHRC,MAA Research foundation , QPSB & BOS member SSSIHL ,Prasanthi  Nilayam  Puttaparthi—Since 2013
  • Research consultancy was offered  to the students of DNB  and PG –Applied Nutrition.- Since 2019
  • Organized UGC sponsored national conference on “Emerging trends in Life Sciences” for faculty, PG and research students. 2017 and” Bioinformatics “ for students and faculty 2002
  • A total of 21 research papers published in Peer –reviewed and UGC listed journals; one publication was recognized and included as a chapter in the compiled book “Recent progress in Microbiology and Biotechnology –vol 4 -2020; Implemented 3 ARPs (Ann’s Research Project) sanctioned by college under seed money grant in the areas of Human Genetics and  Plant Biotechnology.

    • Innovation in making the students do practical experiments on DNA extraction from mouth and banana, culturing of Drosophila fruit flies and mitosis in Onion root tips-first step using kitchen as platform and domestic  chemicals and few ordered from Amazon during Pandemic.
